In an effort to impose a ceasefire President Erdogan of Turkey ordered a halt to trade with Israel

A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was the sole goal of Turkey’s decision to cut off commerce with Israel, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

While meeting with the board of directors of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association in Istanbul on Friday, Erdogan made the statements, as reported on the presidency’s website, during the event.

To mitigate the fallout from cutting off trade with Israel, the president said the government will work in tandem with businesses and engage with them.

The Turkish Trade Ministry announced on Thursday that all trade with Israel was suspended due to Israel’s “non-stop violence” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In addition, Erdogan made the observation that other countries uneasy about the present situation would follow this choice as a precedent.
