On Saturday, in Ibadan, the capital of the state, Makinde made this proclamation.

According to the divinejams, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan, departed this year on March 14th to join his predecessors, leaving the throne empty.

The 43rd Olubadan, Olakulehin, was nominated and appointed by the Olubadan-in-Council at a meeting presided over by High Chief Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, as reported in the divinejams.

Nonetheless, according to Makinde, Olakulehin will not take the throne until he is physically capable of undergoing the coronation procedures.

While speaking to the assembly, Makinde announced that he had followed the advice of the Olubadan-in-Council.

But he did say that Olakulehin will be crowned when he is good and ready.

They brought the rain because they don’t want us to commemorate Baba, but I advised everyone to charm it. Let us keep celebrating our late kabiyesi while they carry on with that.

I would like us to take away from today the fact that the late Kabiyesi and I accomplished what others believe Napoleon is incapable of.

The House of Assembly and I revised the Chieftaincy Laws of Oyo State on Friday, May 26, 2023, so that the governor can change the Declaration of Obas without going to the Council of Chiefs.

The Ibadan Chieftaincy Declaration was revised by kabiyesi and me. The proclamation to crown the Olubadan of Ibadanland is in effect; anyone who has not seen it should go find it.

I have reviewed the Olubadan-in-Council’s recommendation and agreed to follow it.

There has been due process, and I and my family will acquiesce to the throne as soon as Oba Olakulehin is able to do so.
