The Obong of Calabar Executive Forum (OCEF), which is headed by high Chief Henshaw and serves as an advisory and executive arm of the palace, was instrumental in his plea.

He went on to say that the bridge would connect Akwa Ibom State with the hinterlands, shorten travel times, and boost the economy of the surrounding towns.

The Calabar (Adiabo) side of the bridge was almost 70% finished when it was suspended for reasons that are still unknown, according to Obong Abasi Otu.

It is imperative that we do not let this enormous investment deteriorate, he emphasized.

We are pleading with the federal government to remember this bridge. The fact that it has the potential to connect numerous settlements to the neighboring state of Akwa Ibom makes it crucial.

The Obong commended President Bola Tinubu for starting the coastal Calabar-Lagos route, but he also reminded him of the ongoing issue of dredging the Calabar Channel.
