Portuguese referee takes action against Super Eagles midfielder for using cell phone on substitute bench

After being found using his phone while on the substitutes’ bench, Chaves, a Portuguese SuperLiga side, are planning to punish Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali severely.

Nwakali started last weekend’s league match between Chaves and Famalicao but came off the bench during halftime.

In a tense match, Chaves came up short, losing 1-0.

Their humiliating loss resulted in their relegation from the Portuguese first division.

The club is likely to take disciplinary action against Nwakali.

His contract with the Spanish team Ponferradina was supposedly terminated due to disciplinary difficulties when he allegedly returned to the club after the postponed 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
