A 45-year-old man in Delta is arrested by the police for producing fake alcohol

In Bomadi, Bomadi local government area of the state, agents of the Delta State Police Command detained a 45-year-old man named Chiemenam Adigwe on suspicion of producing counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

A resident of Akpo community in Aguata local government, Anambra State, the suspect is said by the police to have mixed ethanol with water, added flavoring, and then packaged the phony beverages in empty bottles of well-known beverage brands that he typically purchases from Onitsha.

The accused admitted to informing his suppliers that he typically places alcohol orders with Onitsha.

On April 25, 2024, at approximately 1100 hours, Adigwe was taken into custody in Bomadi after information was obtained regarding his illicit production of alcoholic beverages.

Following the receipt of the information, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, the State Commissioner of Police, issued an order to the DPO of Bomadi Division to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrator.

The DPO subsequently guided agents to the suspect’s hiding place, where they apprehended him in possession of more than a hundred bottles of fake Gordon’s, Chelsea, Eagle Schnapps, and McDowell.
