Once again, a gang of bandits has attacked Zurmi town, which is the capital of Zurmi Local Government Area in Zamfara State. Their goal is to kidnap Alhaji Bello Mohammed Bunu, the emir.
In a recent attack on Gusau, security operatives led the monarch to safety, according to Mallam Mustapha Muhammad Zurmi, a local citizen who spoke with divinejams over the phone. Zurmi denied that the monarch might have been abducted.
According to Zurmi, the terrorists did not kidnap or murder anyone, but the bandits have been actively plotting the Emir’s abduction.
Terrorists, according to the source, are not acting alone; they have insiders who provide them with knowledge about the whole community.
“The bandits have been able to move to Zurmi and are now operating freely, unhindered by the security operatives,” he continued.
You may remember that the bandits recently destroyed all of the MTN equipment and set fire to the Zurmi Divisional Police headquarters, causing the locals severe communication issues.
People in the Kaura and Shinkafi LGAs of the state have been complaining about the lack of communication services ever since the bandits blew up the MTN infrastructure in Zurmi.
As of the time this story was filed, all attempts to gain a comment from ASP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesman of the State Police Command, were fruitless.
