Three people were killed in an attack on the Akpoha hamlet in the Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi State in the late hours of Saturday by as-yet unidentified gunmen.
While fleeing for their life, other community members also suffered injuries of varied degrees.
According to LEADERSHIP’s investigation, the victims included a male vigilante, a female trader, and a State Neighborhood Security Watch (NSW) member.
According to Uche Donatus, a local resident who verified the incident, the murdered Neighborhood Security Watch operator took around ten rounds of gunfire.
It was a violent attack; the gunmen were shooting sporadically, and bullets were hitting my house’s roof, so I had to flee.
Three bodies were found after they had departed. Among the three bodies found on the ground is an individual affiliated with the Ebubeagu Security Network. Up to ten gunshots are lodged in his body.
